About
The Afri-Can-Ian Project was developed to inspire children, and young adults, to actively make a difference in the world. Although there are many great charities, most of them never allow a person to be actively involved in the process. By simply sending money overseas, we don't make a connection with the people we are sending it to, which makes us less likely to help in the future. We believe that empathy, compassion, and most importantly "action", start with understanding and connection.
We have created this site to help teachers and students make a connection with people around the world, and then turn that connection into real action. Every year we send a team across the world to oversee projects that you design.

We have created this site to help teachers and students make a connection with people around the world, and then turn that connection into real action. Every year we send a team across the world to oversee projects that you design.
Possible scenario for your students...
- You Make a Connection with a "sister school" in Uganda. Your two schools send pictures, videos and letters for a year through our Share Center.
- You and your students discover that your "sister school" has no school supplies of any kind.
- Your class submits an idea in the Make a Difference section to reach out to the community to donate used schools supplies and fund-raise to help pay for shipping.
- We email you back with specifics and/or suggestions for your idea.
- We hand-deliver your schools supplies and messages.
- We bring back videos and letters from the students that were helped and present them to your class.
- One or more of your students are inspired by the effect they are able to have and decide to Make the Trip when they are old enough.
